1) NOVA HEDWIGIA Beiheft Band 151: Diatoms and Chryophytes - Unravelling their mysteries through light and electron microscopy: Richard M. Crawford - A lifetime dedicated to microalgal research. On the Occasion of his 80th birthday.
This volume of Nova Hedwigia Beihefte includes papers covering a broad range of topics in diatom and chrysophyte research - including historical analyses of taxa names and name changes - through descriptions of novel taxa; observations of fine details of valve and cell morphology and ultrastructure, in many cases in an ecological and/or biostratigraphic context; to attempts at clarifying some hard-to-resolve questions on the evolutionary history of diatoms. Although there is no single common scientific thread connecting all contributions, they are all influenced, in some way, by the work of R. M. Crawford. Some highlight the still substantial extent of undiscovered terrain in the realm of diatom (and microalgal) ultrastructure, regarding variations on the fine construction of both frustules and organic cell components, an area of research in which R. M. Crawford laid important groundwork. Other papers add to our understandingof individual taxonomic groups in which R. M. Crawford raised a heightened interest, such as the genus Corethron which features the most elaborate movements of cell wall parts during cell division in diatoms, or the diverse genera of melosiroid diatoms where the work of R. M. Crawford was instrumental in recognizing the extent of (functional-)morphological and ecological variability. Combining diverse perspectives and methods, this volume will be of interest to researchers of diatoms, chrysophytes and other microalgal groups. The volume is dedicated to Richard M. Crawford, who spent a lifetime researching dinoflagellates and diatoms, particularly their morphology and taxonomy, utilizing various microscopical techniques. He is perhaps best known for his pioneering works on the dinoflagellate genera Oxyrrhis and Woloszynskia, and the centric diatoms, Aulacoseira, Melosira, Ellerbeckia, Paralia, and Corethron. He was one of the contributors to the famous blue book (The Diatoms: Biology & Morphology of the Genera) and was the curator to the Hustedt Diatom Collection in Bremerhaven.

3) FLORA NEOTROPICA: The Genus Diplusodon (Lythraceae) by Taciana Barbosa Cavalcanti
This volume is a monograph of the genus Diplusodon (Lythraceae), written by the world authority on this plant group. Diplusodon is a monophyletic genus of shrubs and subshrubs, with showy, 6-merous, actinomorphic flowers, and floral tubes on which the sepals alternate with conspicuous epicalyx segments. The capsular fruit contains winged seeds and, uniquely for the family, is divided by a bipartite placenta with two semi-lunate septa. Diplusodon is the second largest genus in the Lythraceae and occurs mostly in the Cerrado Biome, the floristically diverse savannah that covers more than two million km2 of the Central Brazilian Plateau, extending west into Bolivia, south to Paraguay and east to the Caatinga. A total of 104 species and eight varieties are recognized in the genus, for which 46 lectotypes, one neotype, one new status and one new combination are designated, nine new species are described, and 15 taxa are placed in synonymy. New information on floral and vegetative morphology, pollen, cytology, chemistry, floral biology, and habitat are provided for the genus. In addition, keys to the species are accompanied by descriptions, illustrations, distribution maps, and assignment of conservation status.
Since 1968, these monographic volumes have provided taxonomic treatments of families or other groups of plants or fungi growing in the Americas between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. The monographs are intended to be comprehensive, so most of them also include information on economic botany, conservation, phylogenetic relationships, taxonomic history, ecology, cytology, anatomy, and phytochemistry, among other topics. Each volume is illustrated with line drawings, black and white photographs, and distribution maps. This series is the official publication of the Organization for Flora Neotropica (OFN), an organization founded in 1964 with the mission of producing a published botanical inventory of the American tropics. The current OFN Executive Director is Wm. Wayt Thomas.
Flora Neotropica volumes 1?14 (1968?1974) were published by Hafner Publishing Company. Volumes 15?121 (1975 ? 2019) were published by The New York Botanical Garden.

Er war Fachgutachter für Botanik bei zahlreichen Maßnahmen zur Landespflege und viele Jahre in der Erwachsenenbildung tätig. Heute befasst er sich hauptsächlich mit der Flora und Vegetation Süd-Italiens.
